Recently, I learned the sad story of Arbre du Ténéré - the most isolated tree on Earth (the only one within more than 400 km). I was so touched I could not help making a wallpaper about it! From Wikipedia: It was the last surviving tree of a group of trees that grew when the Sahara desert was less parched than it is today. The tree was knocked down by an allegedly drunk Libyan truck driver in 1973.

Thanks for good job! As for me, I would never know about the Tenere Tree, if this picture had had no text.

This story is so sad. This tree must be so lonely. And loneliness is the most painful feeling in the world :(

Simple and poignant. Great work.

I like the writing, it gives me info on the poor tree. I have trouble understanding how a person runs into the only tree within 400 km, no matter how drunk they are!?!, same as Me

Very cool. Along with looking great, it's an awesome conversation starter. I don't mind the text because I know I'll eventually forget what it is and will then be able to look it up. I'm just trying to figure out how a person runs into the only tree within 400 km, no matter how drunk they are!?!

I think that this is up there with what I think is your best. It's a great subject and a great wallpaper........... Having both versions is good. I kinda like the text so you can know and fell what it is.............. Great wallpaper Thanks

Beautiful and sad. The text doesn't look bad--you can't please everybody. Keep up the good work, Vlad. Your wallpapers are simply stunning!

You just keep doing this amazing work
alex5 January 2008
um. is there a point? if there is, I sure don't get it...

Again, fantastic Wallpaper, but I would love it without text. I'm not a huge fan of any type of text on my background. Regardless, it's still amazing!
Jaideep5 January 2008
Magnificent. Very touching too. Though I agree with Krzysztof Jagus. I feel the text intereferes with the otherwise solitary feel of the tree. Would bring lot more depth to its serenity and emotion without the text. Looking forward to another version, minus text. Thanks, Vlad. You're matchless as ever. And wish you a delightful year filled with peace, happiness and prosperity!

This one would be nice without the text. Please make another version. Thank you.

Great! Would be even nicer without text... :)

I've heard that a metal sculpture now stands where the most isolated tree once did; a wallpaper featuring that would make a great partner to this one.
